I am starting this thread because of the Greek philosophy that influences the NT ideas like hell, immortal soul things that in the mind of a Rabbi steeped in Torah and Tanack never thought of.
In my search of the bible there is not one place where it is said that believers in Jesus go to heaven when they die!
This being the case just what is resurrection for?
In Mt. 24:29- 31 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Sha'ul reiterates this to his audience, speaking about the same time, the time of resurrection, the trumpet lows and the dead are raised; 1Co 15:53 For this perishable nature must put on the imperishable, and this mortal nature must put on immortality.
1Co 15:54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory."
If anyone goes to heaven, this is the beginning of this process.
So why are these verses and all the others that tell us that the departed are not in heaven, but buried in the ground?
Where does the term immortal soul come from? Is it biblical?
Just where is hell in the Christian bible? If it be everlasting, where is it in the New earth?
Seems that there is not one mention of any such when the wicked are thrown into the lake of fire.
Seems to me that somewhere in the Holy Scriptures, there is something about treading up on the ashes of the wicked, this seems to imply they(wicked)are consumed to ash.
Peter says the elements burn with fervent heat, then the New Heaven and New Earth show up and is peopled by those who have the testimony of Yeshua and keep the commandments.
Soul sleep, immortal soul, ever burning hell, going to heaven, not going to hell, rapture, and all the myriad of other things that the Hebrew Sages have no part in but are mainline dogmas in Christianity.
Let's hear what you have to say and the proof is in the scriptures. If it has no support, don't post it.
