During the feast of trumpets, a series of trumpets, he. shofar, are blown. This has a prohphetic ymbolism in itself, but did you know that the very horn is a messianic prophecy?
the origin of the shofar is unknown, and many theories have been produced to explain it. but let me focus on one in particular. When Avraham brought Yitzek to sacrifice him, he said 'YHVH will provide a lamb.' Yet, the animal used to replace Yitzek as a sacrifice was a ram. So what was the lamb that Avraham spoke of in gen 22? Avraham had a vision o Ha Mashiach, the lamb. he realized that he was going to sacrifice Yitzek as a symbol of the massiah... and to reward avraham for his faith, yitzek was not offered as a sacrifice.
but what did Avraham do with the ram? he sacrificed it. but tradition says that he took the horn of the ram and made it into the first shofar. then he blew it from the mountain top to proclaim that the messiah will come.
wow.
