If you haven't already heard about the recent book called "Love Wins" by Rob Bell, you will likely be hearing more about it. It seems that Bell's book is going to be this year's "Divinci Code." Bell is being called a heretic and false prophet by many within the system of Christianity. www.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2011/March/Pastors-Love-Wins-Book-Bad-for-Christianity/I would like to read the book and see for myself exactly what his position is. However, even if Bell is wrong in his assessment of heaven and hell, does not mean Christianity at large is correct. Perhaps his book will cause some to actually take some time and do some of their own study regarding the afterlife. Often when something like this comes out, many Christian leaders go into attack mode and begin to write books and put on seminars to counter the other information. I remember a lot of this after Dan Brown's Divince Code came out. Although I have no objection to anyone setting the record straight, in the case of Brown's book, the responses that I saw were often less than objective. Much of what Brown stated in the Divinci Code regarding the history of Christianity was correct, but I saw no acknowledgement by Christian leaders. If Bell be a heretic or false prophet because he is wrong in what he teaches about the afterlife, he is only one among many. It may be that he is simply a heretic that finds himself outside of the overall system of heretical beliefs. Thoughts?

I hadn't read anything about this book until I read this, so went about looking up info, in his MarsHill.org the FAQs a big wig says about the book that the stingy theologist are out raged at the sofening of the everburning hell issue, not his exact words, mine. I have encountered those folks who delight in the torment of the everburning hell. To me is the most ungodly event in Christianity. Not having read the book, but the FAQs, it seems to be that he is like as you say in the last paragraph. As going to heaven, I've not found a single paragraph in the whole of the bible about going to heaven. When the heaven and earth are being koshered by fire, we who are saved have to be somewhere!? Could this be in Abrahams bosom?

Yes, eventhough Bell may have some things wrong, I think that he has really hit a nerve with Christian leaders because the mainstream afterlife teachings are built upon sand. I'm hoping to add a post soon on the other site on the topic. I put a new post on that site yesterday you might like to check out called "Are we in the last days?" that you might like to check out. beitmidrashardmore.wordpress.com/
