I know that this subject has been discussed on here before, but I couldn't remember where. Earlier a lady called me and was asking me for scriptures on the subject. I gave her a lot of scriptures to look up, but I would like to know what scriptures, if any, that Replacement theology is primarily based upon. Can you think of any scriptures that are used to support RT?

Can you think of any scriptures that are used to support RT? As far as I know there is no justification of RT. Other than their miss guided abuse of scripture. A quik search can produce many apponents to this un-godly practice. Google, Ask. Yahoo or any other search engine. Shalom Bob

Okay, thanks Bob. I'll try to see what I can find regarding this. It is my understanding that Darby, who as far as I know is the founder of dispensationalism, probably is one of the big keys in understanding what arguments the proponents of RT base their beliefs upon.
The only thing that I could think of right off hand is this verse regarding the House of Israel from Jer. that some have used.
Jeremiah 3:6-8
6 The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot. 7 And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it. 8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
What is your understanding of this verse?

Aaah yes! they do use this and other places where God says he gave her a bill of divorcement. Then they twist what said Ro. 7:2 Thus a married woman is bound by law to her husband as long as he lives; but if her husband dies she is discharged from the law concerning the husband.
Neither God nor Israel remarried, so they can reconcile. As it is written. And the new Covenant will come to pass.

What are your thoughts on the divorce passages? My understanding is that it was the House of Israel that was divorced and that Judah was never divorced.
I do think that the Romans passage does have relevence to the discussion. Consider the scenario that the Sadducees discussed regarding if a woman was married to seven brothers that had died and also the woman at the well. The Samaritan woman (Ephraim's territory/head of the House of Israel) that you have had five husbands and the one you are with now is not really your husband. In Rev 17 regarding the heads we read 5 have fallen, one is, and one is to come.
5 kingdoms have fallen
1 is 1 is to come
5 husbands 1 current is not really a husband Could it be that the woman would have one more?
Consider the kingdoms that ruled over Israel: Five have fallen. 1 Egypt 2 Assyria 3 Babylon 4 Media Persia 5 Greece
6 Rome at the time was ruling over them 7 Another kingdom which I think was the other leg of the Roman Empire. Remember their were 2 iron legs. Although most usually focus upon the western leg, the easter empire was mainly what grew into the Moslem empire.
Thoughts?

There is a reason for all scripture, like the book of Esther, where-in the name of God is not mentioned, but we are given the meaning of sent in the "Name of". Many illistrations of the Kings signet. So the seven brothers and your five kingdoms fallen may be another way we are to know the signs of the times. Food for study!!!
