Yesterday was ascension day. This is a short educational piece on Ascension Day.
Ascension Day[/u] Ascension Day is the day Jesus ascended to heaven. To sit at the right hand side of his father. The disciples recieved the holy spirit on that day but this discussion is about what he said:
I have to go now to sit at the right-hand side of my father. But I will come again in the same way i leave now If this an incorrect interpretation of what Jesus said i would be happy for you to put the correct one here.
A few questions you might want to consider when writing on this topic[/u]
When do you think Jesus will come again? Do you think Jesus is among us(which is a theory against ascension day unless you think Jesus has already come again)? Do you think Jesus was just saying he will come again to make the disciples feel better? My stance is that Jesus will come again one day. And he will be as majestic as he was back then.

well, we always think of the ascencion as being a quiet ordeal. actually, there was probably a shofar sounding when he ascended. i get this becauase he will come back with a great shout at the sound of the last shofar. so either the 2nd advent will be quiet, or the ascention was loud and public.
but i didnt know that htere was such thing as ascention day. interesting.

Welcome to the forum Vicarsson.
the focus here is primarily delving into scripture and what it has to say about different issues rather than a focus upon different religions.
However, I think that it might be beneficial to take a look at this subject and compare what scripture has to say regarding holy days and the ascension with traditions. Y'shua was with the Apostles 40 days and apparently ascended ten days before Shavaot (Pentecost). Although the ascension of Y'shua is certainly important, I'm not aware of any celebration recorded in the scriptures pertaining to it specifically.

why do we celebrate the ascention though? what reason do you do so?
i have a few reasons, but none that would incline me to celebrate it with a festival. anyway, i want to hear your reasons.

We don't celebrate it with a festival, just a service.

okay. i dont care if you do it... its not a sin or anything, and it is not based off of an idolotrous practices. i just dont bother myslf with feasts like that though. i just celebrate the ascention during the counting of the omer. then on shavuot, i celebrate the giving of the law, and the giving of the spirit so that we can follow that law. on passover, i celbrate the exodus from egypt, and i celebrate the exodus out of bondage for sin.
well , you get my point do you not? i celebrate the jewish feasts and fill them with messianic meaning while they still contain the traditional meaning.
