People during Yeshuas ime did not live long-- this is a well known fact. Yet Yochanon lived a VERY long time. :
Yeshua was born about 4 B.C. So when he was thirty, 26 A.D. he began to call his disciples. So, Yochanon was a teenager when he was called by Yeshua. (i will prove this in a seperat thread.). We will say 16, for the sake of the study.
Any way, his books and epistles are generally dated around 90 A.D. If this is true than he was about 80 when he wrote the books. THIS IS VERY OLD for a person even nowadays, much older for a person in Yeshuas time. why did Yochanon live so long?
Mormons solve this problem by saying Yeshua made it so Yochanon was to live until he comes back--- this is actually very interesting, i urge you to look it up... for they even use the scriptures (although i never bought it)--- But really... this is kindof weird. why? Tradition has it that Yochanon was martyred on Patmos, when he wrote Revelation. who would murder an 80 year old man?!
But anyway, thought it was interesting enough to bring up.

Yeah, I have also heard that John wrote Revelation in his 80-ies.
